New – extra help for small business – apply now!
Small business owners!! What’s new and could it be available for you?
This week the government has launched 2 new schemes.
The Kickstart Scheme
As an employer, (of any size), you can take on an unemployed school leaver for 6 months. The Government will fully fund this position. You will be able to extend the position to another school leaver after the first person completes the 6 months.
You will receive funding for minimum wage, plus employers national insurance and pension contributions. This can be topped up if you wish, although not essential.
Think about how you will train them and how to put time and effort into ensuring that they acquire skills which will take them forward. The essentials would be basic work ethics and how to do standard business tasks. In addition you can also provide more training and have them take on more responsibility within the business.
Large companies wishing to provide 30+ jobs can apply directly to HMRC. A small business wishing to offer 1 or 2 positions will need to join a group offering the service – see below for contacts.
Restart and Recovery Grants
The government has also released a further £20 million in grants to help small businesses recover after Covid-19. This will be fully funded by the government with no obligation for the business to contribute financially.
Small and medium sized businesses in England can access grants between £1,000 – £5,000 for new equipment, technology and specialist advice. This includes specialist accounting advice about how to plan your strategy to take your business forward. Small equipment – such as a laptop – can also be purchased.
If you would like to find out more about getting some strategy advice to take your business forward please visit this link. This will enable you to book a complimentary 30 minute phone call to talk through any issues you have.
